Beginning
I - Italiano Uno
The perfect introductory class for those with very little or no
knowledge of Italian. Students learn all the basics: greetings, courtesy words, pronunciation, numbers, days of the week, a lot of useful everyday vocabulary and plenty more Italian in between. If you've always
wanted to speak this beautiful language start by taking Italiano
Uno. (Chapters P-2 in Prego! Text book). Also a good class for Travelers!

Beginning
II - Italiano Due
Calling all former Italiano Uno students and all those who want to
continue learning Italian! Students will build on the fundamentals,
learn new vocabulary. Italian Due really focuses on verbs and students will practice speaking about family and pastimes and
understanding everyday Italian with classroom conversations and
reading. (Chapters 2-4 in Prego! Text book)

Beginning
III - Italiano Tre
Graduates of Italiano II and students who possess the basic grammar and
vocabulary skills will enjoy this interactive class. Students learn direct and indirect object pronouns and how to talk about past actions. Expand vocabulary to include foods and practice conversational skills by asking and answering questions about likes and dislikes. (Chapters 4-5 in Prego! Text book)

Intermediate
I - Italiano Quattro
Students will increase their vocabulary to include fashion items and clothing, grammar will include reflexive verbs and more past tense verb forms. There will be opportunity to practice and improve conversational
skills. Continue learning Italian, enhance your speaking skills and play an
active role in the class discussions. (Chapters in Prego! Text book)

Intermediate
II - Italiano Cinque
This class is designed for students who are at beginning intermediate level of
proficiency and wish to strengthen their conversational, grammar

Advanced I - Italiano Sette
This class is for students who have studied Italian and wish to
reach a more proficient level. Students learn and practice the imperative tense and the use of ne and ci. The class is taught mostly
in Italian to increase students' conversational, grammatical and

Advanced
II -Italiano Otto
Students in this class will use Italian in the class room and continue

Mixed Level Classes and
Conversation and Grammar Classes
Over the many years spent as classroom instructors we find that there are many benefits in mixing similar learning levels. We often will offer a combination class of Italiano 4-5 or Italiano 6-7. This allows us to better serve the needs of all our students to continue studying Italian in the best learning environment possible.
Once students arrive at the intermediate levels they want the opportunity to use the grammar they know. These special classes allow students to cover grammar at a slower pace while giving them a chance to converse and really use Italian in teacher lead discussions.

Advanced Course: Corso Avanzato
Students in this class will have completed Prego! and begin to broaden their understanding
of more complex linguistic constructions, grammar, idioms and
expressions. Instructors provide interesting reading and writing
assignments which increase vocabulary and fluency while giving
students the practice they need to become confident in speaking
Italian. Students enjoy broadening their language skills while
learning more about Italy, Italian culture and daily life. da

Superior Course: Corso Superiore
This is our most advanced language course. In this class students have an excellent level of comprehension and speaking ability, they are also able to read and write in Italian. Corso Superiore is continuing class were students continue to master more complex linguistic constructions, grammar, idioms and
expressions. It is taught entirely in Italian with interesting reading and writing
assignments, and occasionally the class will read a novel to increase vocabulary and fluency. Students enjoy broadening their language skills while
learning more about Italy, Italian culture and daily life. da

Winter Ponte Review Classes
These special 4 or 5 week Ponte or Bridge classes offer students the
perfect opportunity to continue learning during the quarter (November
and December) break. Each class is designed to expand vocabulary
and comprehension and to help students gain confidence in Italian
conversation. The classes help continuing students master the
material before continuing to the next level.

Summer Review and Conversation Classes
Occasionally, depending on instructor availability, we will
offer complete Summer classes for a few levels of Italian. The
only ABSOLUTE Beginning level class offered this summer is Italian
for Travelers. Students with some beginning level Italian language
skills may wish to try our Beginning Conversation. For this level
students should be familiar with the present tense and the past
(passato prossimo) tense.
All Summer classes will focus on review and conversation. This
gives students an opportunity to practice what they have learned
without the pressures of learning new grammar. It is the best
way to continue learning Italian during the summer!
TEXT BOOKS: Italian UNO to DIECI courses use the book Prego! An Invitation to Italian 7th edition (Mc Graw Hill Publishers).
We will have new copies available for sale at the first class meeting for $150 and USED copies for $65. Several websites also feature the book used.
Italian for Travelers Classes use the text "Buon Viaggio! A Traveler's Guide to Italian Language and Culture." This book is available for $30 at class meetings. |
Summer
Review and
Conversation Classes
Students who have taken Italian and studied vocabulary and grammar need
to speak Italian in teacher led group conversations to achieve fluency
and attain confidence in speaking Italian. Students taking Review and
Conversation classes will review all the important grammar points and
enjoy lively classroom conversations about Italy and Italian culture
and strengthen their Italian language skills. Excellent classes which
allow students the opportunity to put what they know to use in a
supportive setting..
Beginning Conversation: Requires completion of Italiano
3 or teacher OK.
Intermediate Conversation: Requires completion of Italiano
5/6 or teacher OK.
Advanced Conversation and Corso Superiore: Requires completion

Children's
classes are offered
year round with small teacher to student ratio thanks, in part, to a
contribution from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and the
Italian Consulate in San Francisco.
